1. FEASIBILITY Unsure if you even need a building? Unsure if you should knock down and start again or work with what you’ve got? Unsure how much your budget should be? We’re here to help you understand your objectives, define your brief and find opportunities. We’re good at listening and then compiling information in a way that helps you make key decisions at the right time – a good feasibility study can help unlock a whole project.

2. CONCEPT You think you know what you are after but you don’t know how to achieve the best outcome? Perhaps you need something you haven’t thought of yet. We’re here to bring our creativity to help shape what’s possible. We’ve been called ingenious and pragmatic – we hope that sums us up.

3. PLANNING What will the planners let you do? We believe that buildings can be contextual AND bold and brave. We take time to understand a place and the local agenda. We have a 100% record in gaining planning permission.

4. TECHNICAL We are swimming against the tide that says that an architect can either design or deliver – we can do both. We are experienced and rigorous in our design for building regulations and construction, and love rolling up our sleeves to work out the tricky technical bits. In fact we believe it is integral to our ongoing improvement as architects that we continuously learn from building out our designs. We have worked in a whole host of ways, sometimes advising the client throughout the process, sometimes transferring to work for the contractor, and often collaborating with other consultants and architects to deliver complex solutions. We’ve even been our own client, so we know how it feels to be on the other side of the table.

5. CONSTRUCTION On site, we relish seeing our designs come alive, but most importantly for you, we take our inspection duties seriously, and carefully track and catalogue construction on-site against the design requirements. We love working with others who share our collaborative approach, where we can find on-site solutions where things aren’t as expected, or challenges arise. We find good communication is one of the key skills we can bring.

We offer a briefing service where we can support our clients in defining their project objectives through the development of feasibility studies and appraisals.

We help develop a clear, cohesive and comprehensive way forward for projects even when there are multiple voices on the client body. We do this by asking the right questions, listening closely, and presenting feasibility options for consideration.

We help our clients appraise sites and buildings to determine how they should be arranged and whether a project should be new build or refurbishment. We do this by preparing masterplans that set a framework for the project that can be assessed against cost, sustainability and project objectives.

We help develop designs that can be delivered gradually or phased according to funding and logistical constraints, or that can be built on live and active sites. We help to demystify the considerations through the use of diagrams at the very early stages.

On occasion, it may be appropriate for us to develop your project up to a developed stage for planning only. We can offer this as a service package, so please talk to us about this.

We help gain planning permission in challenging locations. We take the time to understand the planning context and local considerations. We are expert in preparing consultation materials and conducting information-gathering and listening exercises. In this way, the planning risk of a project can be substantially reduced.

We design developments that are appropriate in scale, massing and character in relation to the context. This approach to place-making can help achieve planning permission in sensitive locations.

FULL SERVICES

Our preference is to stay with a project from initial conception through to construction, handover and post-occupancy review. The support we offer our clients can take many forms depending on the building and procurement type. Please discuss this with us - we love to collaborate with others to achieve the best outcome.

We help our clients visualise and understand design proposals throughout the deign and build stages via the production of high-quality three-dimensional drawings and artists impressions. This demystifies proposals and helps decision-making throughout the process.

We use our own process map to steer the project from start to finish, communicating clearly as we go.

We help our clients deliver high quality buildings on time and on budget. We have technical know-how and use the latest BIM technology to produce coordinated and refined buildings.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

We have in-house passive house certification.

We help embed sustainable design into all our projects in a meaningful way. We work with clients who believe that architecture should be environmentally responsible in a pragmatic manner.

We help our clients analyse their existing buildings and decide where and how to best upgrade fabric and systems to save energy and improve conditions.

We help integrate sustainable drainage (SuDS) into sites, landscapes, roofs and terraces to mitigate against flood risk and help develop ecosystems.

We advise on the best choices of materials to limit embodied carbon as well as reduce carbon in use. We are expert in designing with low energy timber structures.
